Term 2 Wrap-Up: Celebrating Achievements, Community and Big Steps Forward
As we close the chapter on Term 2, it’s fair to say it’s been a big one, filled with celebration, growth and plenty to be proud of.
Our Principal, Mr Mark Brockhus, recently sat “on the couch” with College Captains Claire and Jake to reflect on what’s been a bustling term for both students and staff. The conversation covered everything from athletic triumphs to exciting new partnerships, and captured the spirit of a community that continues to show up, get involved and support one another.
One of the term’s biggest announcements was our new partnership with Kangan Institute, which will see a purpose-built campus launched in 2028. This is a major milestone in the College’s future. Mr Brockhus also returned from Tokyo after helping launch the VCE program at our Salesian sister school, Setagaya, marking an important international connection we’re thrilled to be building on.
Student life has been equally impressive. Our Athletics Carnival brought the energy (and thankfully the weather held out), with Mannix taking the win. MAD Day followed with outstanding participation and creativity. O’Grady House took top honours with a brilliant art installation and video.
Term 2 also saw our Salesian and Bosco Feast Day celebrated in style with Masses, a full-school walkathon, and a festive lunch complete with student-run food stalls. This event helped raise an incredible $9,300 to support our sister school in Samoa, smashing our original goal and demonstrating the generosity and heart of our school community. Our Performing Arts team has been working hard behind the scenes ahead of the upcoming Shrek The Musical production, and tickets are now live. With three performances in early August, we can’t wait to see the show come to life.
To round out the term, we congratulated our senior boys’ AFL team on their win in the SACCSS Senior Division. Both our AFL teams proudly wore a specially designed Indigenous round guernsey created by one of our own students, Lucas. It was a beautiful reflection of culture, pride and student voice in action. As we step into a well-deserved break, we welcome new students and staff joining us in Semester 2, and send best wishes to our Year 12s as they begin their final full term at the College.
Thanks to every student, staff member and family for the energy and effort poured into Term 2. We’ll see you back on July 21, refreshed and ready for what’s next.
